Our eyes, and those of smartphone fans everywhere, will be trained on Nokia later this year to see what becomes of the company's efforts to make its first Windows Phone 7 smartphones. Will they stand out from the rest of the Mango crowd? Will sales help the company regain some lost notoriety? We could begin to answer those questions in as little as four short months, if Nokia plans on debuting its creations at this years Nokia World.
The company just set the dates for Nokia World, taking place in London on October 26 and 27. The fall timeframe coincides with the planned release of Windows Phone 7 Mango, and Nokia has a lot riding on this, so it would want to stage this reveal for when it could capture the most attention of the press and smartphone consumers alike; what better than the keynote of its own event?
It's possible that Nokia may wait for closer to the holiday season to show its hand, but we know for sure that its WP7 smartphones will be arriving sometime before the end of the year. For now, October 26 (possible the 27th) seems like the best candidate, but that could change if we hear of plans for any Nokia events later in the year.
